I went to a one day coin show today that the local coin club I belong to has a few times a year. This was also the first time that I actually met one of the CoinTalk members, shortgapbob (Robbie), who had a table set up at the show. Along with having some very impressive coins in his showcase Robbie is a class A #1 dealer. We talked for a while and I bought a very nice 1914-D Lincoln and an 1872 IHC from him as well as finally completing my Washington Quarter set from some other guys while I was there. I also had my first experience being on the dealers side of the table for a brief moment, although I didnt have a single customer in that small space of time it did feel quite good that I was trusted enough to be "in charge" of the mans coins while he was gone. Anyway, it was a great day and I hope Robbie comes back and sets up at our shows in the future.

OK...I finally got around to taking some pics of my latest purchases. The first one is of my 1914-D Lincoln of which I was very proud to add to my collection and the second is an 1872 IHC which I've been looking for a decent one now for a while.

Wow, very nice coins man! Very nice! I'd say the 14 D is a very nice VG-8, but only my opinion. Very nice buys man! :thumb:

Great buys, nice problem-free cents, nothing like a coin show to grab up of what you've been searching for ages. So, how close are you to completing your IHC's? Is that one an upgrade?

Unfortunately, I have a little ways to go with my IHCs. I need some of the earlier dates between 1860 and 1870. The 1872 was one that I didnt have. I'm going to upgrade once I get the set complete. Thanks for looking!!!

It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday Kevin. I had a great time talking coins. I hope to see you at some other shows.

nice 1872, that is a tough date!
And it'll be harder to upgrade.

Thanks Frank, and I agree, its going to be harder and considerably more expensive to upgrade from that coin.

The pleasure was all mine Robbie. I had a great time talking with you and seeing some top notch coins that we normally wouldnt see at one of our shows. I would highly recommend to anyone to visit The Reeded Edge in person or online or to visit Robbie at a show.

The 1872 is very underrated-- I rarely see a nice one that is not screwed up somehow.
Still looking for a nice one for myself.

The only one that I have was a metal detecting find.

I believe also that its a very underrated coin and undervalued because as you said, its very hard to find one that's problem free. Honestly, its taken me over a year to find one that I really liked enough to fit into my collection while at the same time not costing me a fortune.

Strange, considering that the mintage is over 4 million, the coin must be difficult to find, since it trends for $90 in just a G-4.

Again, I haven't seen one in a while, but I'll keep searching.
