I have a dime and a nickel that both appear to be a coppery/bronze color. Pictures are attached. Both appear to be completely the copper color no peeling spots. Nickel is Jefferson obverse, Monticello reverse 1988. Roosevelt dime 2014. Last picture includes a 1957 Lincoln and a 2006 shiny zincoln for color comparison. If these are improperly annealed, are they worth anything? Thanks.
If they were improperly annealed, the edges would like a normal coin. If the copper color covers the rim, then you probably have a chemistry plating experiment
Bloody blasted environmental damage.......nothing to do with the annealing process. Worth 10 centavos...........
I started to write it out, but here is an url that does a good job. Annealing and Tempering of metal are different procedures. Annealing softens to work it such as for hubbing coin dies, tempering alters the hardness and how brittle the metal is. https://www.metalsupermarkets.com/difference-annealing-tempering/
