This one looks legit to me... But I'm probably wrong as I always am. LoL Too bad it has a scratch on it from the staple on the paper it was attached to from Buffalo Bill's grave. (From a lookout mountian trip for a picnic one day many MANY years ago) I see it especially on the "God" and the "E Pluribus Unum". Also the i and t in United States are extremely thin... What causes that? Rachel Is this finally one?
I do not see any Hub Doubling in the photos you provided. This sketch has helped me more than anything when trying to figure out what to look for in doubled dies.
Machine doubling. If you read the cherrypickers they say something like this: "None have been found in BU rolls, wheat cent bags, or other means to true accidential realese from the mint", so it would not be found in circulation. Plus, there are only 3 known. Thats like saying you can find a 1964 SMS coin in change. YOU CAN'T!!!!
This is the only reason I get so confused... Maybe some day it will click but probably not until I actually see one in person. Thanks for all the help though in trying to help me. I've literally never been so confused in my life. I'm actually a damn good student and a very fast learner so I feel like maybe this just might not be the sport for me because I just don't get it. Been trying to for so long and it still doesn't make sense to me. Thanks though everyone who has tried to teach me but I do believe I might be done. Rachel Have a good one all! * Cheers *
Don't feel bad. I am in the same boat. After CRH for more than a year now I still don't think I will spot a DDO/DDR unless it is one of the in your face ones. Most people post photos of doubled die Lincoln cents and I have no Idea what they are seeing to call it that. Even if they point it out. Either my eyes just aren't tuned to see these, or what they are seeing is so small my eyes can't pick it out. There are lots of other errors/varieties to look for that are much easier to see, so don't give up and never be afraid to ask for help. Keep up the search...Mont
