The reverse of this penny is smooth in most areas but has some scrapes on it in some. It looks like it was shaved but then again, it's smooth. Blank planchet?
It was a friend of mine's penny. I said it was shaved or sanded because it was a bit thinner than an ordinary penny
I think it was sanded or ground due to the small 'rectangular marks' about 180 degrees apart on the obverse and more shallow ones barely visible on the reverse, which could have been from something holding the coin during the process.
