    IMHO, both the portrait and the reverse are more appealing on the year 4 coin.

    I prefer the year 5 coin as well, better metal and strike. Both are cool, though.

    I'm in for your year four. Most distinctive.

    When I pursued one of these for Tranquillina and a matching one for Gordian it seemed to me that the position of the dot was related to the officina number (even or odd). But I didn't pursue it very seriously (my bad). comp-Tran&Gord.jpg

    OK, this is exactly why I love following the ancients threads, even though I am not a member (read: owner of an ancient, yet! & this is why I'm having trouble pulling the trigger the first time!).

    So, reading Doug's post, I made a cursory decision (year 5).

    But then I went through all the other posts & was blown away with the thoughts & reasonings presented...& ultimately I switched my opinion to year 4 (although I still like both) & have an added appreciation for the nuances of ancient coins.

    I love you people!!! :happy::p:jawdrop::joyful:

    Plano!! No ancient coins yet? Good gawd man, just buy something, anything... or we're going to start charging rent :p :D

    Buy a small group lot and have fun attributing them. Or, just peruse Vcoins and pick out something pretty. How can you stand being without any ancient coins?? :D

    Well, there are so many I like! :happy: Then just about when I think I have a target identified, one of you posts something else to consider, then....:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

    I promise my next purchase will be an ancient (& if it's any consolation, I have no acquisitions at all so far in 2018, & we're in April already!!!:eek:)

    Thanks for the kick in the butt!!! :hilarious:

    How do you tell the officina number?
