Or maybe, just maybe, they prefer the control offered by a manual transmission or, god forbid, simply enjoy it? How dare anyone actually think for themselves... Perhaps I'm the only one here who has ever seen some woman driving her automatic, visor mirror down, and putting on makeup. She "adapted" quite well, and thank goodness we have automatic transmissions that allow her to do anything but be forced to pay attention to, well, driving. And yes, I am one of these foolish folks who prefer sticks and am also more than happy to let others walk if they don't like it.
The family car is in my wife's name, but the only car she has ever owned as her own is a stick shift 1972 SuperBug. She still has it. There is nothing wrong with a stick shift if you know how to drive it. They give more control, for one thing.
Indeed. This is the biggest reason for my preference and was even mentioned in my last post. Many years ago I was driving an old Caddy, a literal land-yacht, and was traveling down a large and rather steep hill in the middle of winter. All was well with the car holding traction until the damned thing shifted, lost it, and sent me fishtailing before spinning all the way down. After this I didn't own another automatic for years, and even then the only reason I bought the next one was because I couldn't operate a clutch due to an injury. The wife couldn't drive stick so I then sucked up driving automatics for years until finally going back to what I prefer.
Oh, how I just love folks who come here for no other reason than to ignorantly attack the membership. What is most amusing about it is folks like you always conveniently fail to address the cause, or place even the slightest blame upon those spewing their own BS. When, and only when you've shown your willingness to sit here day after day after day, answering the same damned questions and/or dealing with folks lacking even the slightest clue insisting they just hit the jackpot, only then will your position be worthy of being taken seriously. Until then it's just noise. Welcome to the forum, "good guy". I eagerly await seeing you share your expertise with the mentioned others. In fact I welcome it, but as with many before you, I'm not holding my breath.
Your 1922 PEACE DOLLAR looks like it took a few hits, just like you took a few hits on this thread. Some of the members are real experts and when they say NO the result is most always NO with no wiggle room. Sorry that your PEACE DOLLAR may not be a proof, good luck.
There's never too much sarcasm. And, sometimes it's difficult to read sarcasm online, if you don't know the personality of the poster.
Truth yes, making people feel like its just a bunch of edited here doesn't really make it any better. If you don't want the same old ?? everyday, then this shouldn't be a public forum, maybe a member service would make all the guys answering the ?? FEEL BETTER. And maybe I missed it but I didn't notice he was crying, just guys jumping on his case (because true, he may not have gotten what people were saying). But hey people got all bent outta shape and called me a CAC basher, when I posted an ugly CAC quarter, But I thought they graded A and B coins, but I was quickly corrected CAC only verifies the grade NGC and PCGS puts on the coin. So just because someone is trying to learn and understand, people shouldn't talk to them like an edited. Ok well I'll stop crying, and I await the hate mail lol.
In general, I agree with your position. People in general just need to be courteous to each other and things would be a lot better. For this particular thread though, I think the OP didn't like the answer he received and things escalated quickly. The OP even admitted this was his first Peace Dollar. Now if I was the OP and posed the same question AND a group of experienced collectors/numismatists told me it was not the holy grail of Peace Dollars, I'd do one of two things. 1) Thank the group for the answer 2) Thank the group for the answer, then go research the crap out of '22 Proof Peace Dollars so I knew if they were correct or not. But that is not what the OP did. This is a common theme in here and people get tired of new members, with no experience, arguing about something they know nothing about. If you look at it in that context, you might see things differently. People on this site are VERY helpful and FRIENDLY. If you want to participate in this hobby, we'd just like you (not you specifically) to do a little leg work before telling everyone who DOES KNOW, they are wrong. <Jumps off Soap Box> PS: I edited this post to add "Proof" into item B) in my response.
Thanks. Stick around CT. I think you'll like it here. Sure, there are many sarcastic response flying around at times (Me included), but the group here knows a lot of stuff about this hobby. It still amazes my how much knowledge this membership has. I learn something new every time I visit.
Every member has the right and the reason to not post in any thread if they feel they have to be sarcastic in their answer. Yes,everyone gets tired of it, the same questions, but it costs nothing to not answer. No one knows you even saw it. Someone will sooner or later post an answer, and if not, the person that is asking the question in a questionable way or intention will seek answers elsewhere. Don't sacrifice your own integrity intentionally
