It was here on CoinTalk that I learned to value campgate coins. When I had decided to get myself a few, it was not so easy as I had thought to lay hands on one with fine quality (probably because you all are collecting the same).

Later I found one of Valentinian III (on vcoins), and this week arrived a beauty from Frank Robinson's auction. And so there are six here on the table. The 2018 Robinson is bottom right in the pictures. Bottom left (with the dot in the field left of the campgate) I won in his auction in 2017.

Great coins, good collecting theme as there is so many styles of the same type.

I really like campgates and yours are looking good! I agree it's hard to find decent ones at decent prices.

    Nice coins, I like them.

Does anyone know why some of them have a star on top? (or any best guess perhaps?)

So true. Theme must be very popular as the nice examples carry a premium typically.

here's a campgate which is probably unofficial. It is a Valentinian III CASTRA (cf RIC X 2160) except the reverse legend is KA TRA

Here are two campgates of Flavius Victor. Neither is in good shape, so I'll post both and you can kind of piece them together in your head to get some idea of what the gates look like:
