Hello Just today I got some change from a purchase and noticed this dime I recieved was special. Has anyone see one like this before?
Perhaps, if you posted another image, I might think it is a quarter. It doesn't change my opinion! Chris
You have to ask yourself, "How could this have happened during the minting process?" If the anomaly is not an integral part of the die, and could not have been caused by a strikethrough, then it is just damage that occurred after it left the Mint. Of course, no one can say who might have caused it and how because we weren't there to witness the event. Chris
I wasnt trying to change your opinion. I have no idea on what or how strikes affect ect... cause i just started collecting. Sorry for trying to learn. Thanks for the answer.
Please accept my apology for reacting the way I did. I'm just so used to newcomers doubting the answers they get by posting more photos. It happens all of the time! It might be a good idea for you to learn about the minting process, from making the dies to striking the coins. Then, when you find a coin with strange markings, you should be able to tell if the anomalies were caused at the Mint or after they left the Mint. Welcome to the neighborhood! Chris
Thank you very much. I appriciate the apology. Im also on the web right now looking for a good video to so my coin knowledge will be a lil better the next time i have a question. I appriciate it again. Thank you.
Stay away from Youtube! Not really a good source for mint error information Here is an excellent website - http://www.error-ref.com And http://doubleddie.com
I agree with heat damage. If the damage was more in the center of the coin, I would think it was used in a fuse box.
Exactly what Paddyman said. You might have to look through thousands of videos before you find someone on you tube with any knowledge. It isn't the place to learn.
