I have some questions about wheat cents. "Common" ones at least.

For instance what would you do with this one if you had half a roll of them (and I'm sure I do)?

It is full red by the way although the scans don't show as are all of them. It's not just 1956 either. I have many more unc wheaties from the 40s and 50s. Are these worth my time to even sell? If I list them on ebay seller fees kill them basically.

On to more wheaties I have rolls of coins like this.

I have many rolls or partial rolls of straight dates like this 36-D. The coin pictured is average condition for these rolls.

Now, I'm no Lincoln hound but I do know my way around the series fairly well. I've stashed away dupes and more of semi keys and even picked up a nice 1914-D.

But what about these commons folks? Are they worth my while to hang onto, should I dump them for better coins?

The key and semi key dates have been discussed a lot and I do feel they will see even bigger increases. What do you all think about the others even from the teens, twenties and 30s. Are they going anywhere?

First off, sounds like you have some very nice wheats clembo. :thumb: If you are interested in selling them, and don't want to get charged fees, you can try selling them on here in the open forum. Or you can try www.coinbug.com, you can try to sell a few off there man. :thumb: I nor anyone else on here can't gaurentee that they will go up in value, but they might. Basically it's like finding a piece of hay in a needle stack, can get lucky and get out in time with the hay, or stay in too long and really get hurt. ;) :D If you need the money I'd sell them, if not, might not hurt to hold onto them man. :thumb: But in the end it's your decision. :thumb:

    Thanks Phoenix,

No, not hurting for the money just kinda wondering you know?

Been at this coin thing a long time and you have a good idea of what I collect. Odd denominations and paper. Somewhere along the line I amassed about 5,000 wheats and I'm tired of looking at them.

I used to trade with a guy out east - that's where a lot of the rolls came from. He did grab bags and was always looking for specific dates to satisfy his customers. A good seller actually and my local dealer was always loaded with wheats so I bought them cheap. Turns out I still have a ton of them.

May just put some on the open forum and actually have sold a BU on Coinbug.

Just looking for opinions as it were and appreciate yours.

IMHO - Ones like you pictured are going nowhere unless the copper price skyrockets. There are just too many like those floating around. There are people with jars, buckets and milk cans full of them. The red ones might be worth hanging onto. Going from 10¢ to 20¢ is a 100% increase. From the 20's and 30's, nice ones could be worth something if they are nice. If nothing else, there are the 24-D and 31-S.

    Thanks Rim,

I've read enough of your posts and highly respect your opinions.

Don't make too much of that. I do not have esp. That is just my best guess. I would also guess that if they release the concepts that I have seen so far, it will mostly be a flop.

    Thanks for the complement anyhow.

Warren Buffet says that you buy things that people don't want and then sell things back to them when they want it again.

I'm very, very skeptical of this 2009 Lincoln frenzy. If we listen to Buffet, it is NOW the time to SELL your Lincolns. Collect your money, get 5% interest in a nice savings account and then in 2009, when everyone is buying Lincolns - take that money and SCOOP UP things that people aren't buying because they're too busy with the Lincolns.

Just my 2 Cents. (There is a microscopic chance that I could be wrong :) )
