These are the 5 I have right now. Would love to see what y'all have as I think these are super cool! Thanks to @paddyman98 for letting me see that error collecting is more fun than simply filling in slots of consecutive dates. 1. 25c on 1c planhet (MS65RB) 2. 25c on 5c planchet (MS65) 3. 5c on 10c planchet (MS64) 4. 5c on 1c planchet (MS65RB) 5. Double Denomination and 1c on 10c planchet (MS65)
You are welcome... There is a difference between struck on incorrect Planchet and struck on wrong stock. You need to tell which you have. Example. Nickel struck on Cent Planchet would be a Struck on incorrect Planchet A Quarter struck on Dime Planchet would be thinner, this is wrong stock A Quarter struck on Half Planchet would be thicker, this is wrong stock also Understand?
I should of worded it better. A Quarter struck on a Thicker than normal Planchet was stock intended for a Half Dollar. I will post a picture this afternoon
@ldhair I found it in one of my old posts But.. I states on thick Planchet not wrong stock so I have to investigate.
If a dime is struck on a thick planchet, Would that ever mean it was the right dime stock, but it just came out thicker? Or would it mean it was thicker because it was stamped on a 25c or 50c or clad dollar stock?
It's tough to pick the right words for stuff like this. The wrong strip could have been sent thru the blanking press or the strip could have been rolled wrong. I'll guess that can sometimes be figured out by the weight. This may have changed but at one time, many of the thick and thin blanks were said to came from the beginning and end of rolls of stock.
So what is the first quarter struck on? Off color or did it just rust that way due to an alloy mixing error?
It was struck on a copper planchet meant for a Lincoln cent. Believe it or not, it actually weighs the same as a cent at 3.2 grams!
NICE! can't believe how much of the Quarter was able to get on the cent planchet. Was it a find or a purchase?
Just got this one in the mail today! I didn't notice until now it is struck on a 1c blank and not a 1c planchet! Got one of these on each type!
I found someone who was selling an MS65RB for a little over $200. I then saw another. Because they both have super sharp and complete dates that aren't cut off, and because they are tough to find in 65 and being RB and not just Brown, I purchased both.
Always enjoy your humor and witty comments. Kurt, you make this forum fun and I enjoy learning things from you all the time.
