It would be interesting to see the grade NGC would give it.

This honestly doesn't surprise me. I don't see any wear on the coin in the photos. If there is no wear...the coin is MS even with a horrible strike (which is normal for 1922 cents).

I mentioned before that the surfaces have kind of a lacquered look in the photo...but a lot of the coppers that C-B-D posts do and they straight grade which makes me think this is due to the lighting used in the photos...not the coins themselves.

I think the grade is reasonable.

I called it a 62 as I couldn't find any wear on it at all but the shininess made me think it might have been rubbed lightly with a soft cloth that would bring it down a a tad.

    Yup. That was fun!

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

63’s can and do often have very noticeable dings.

The problem is...this coin doesn't have any wear. It's just struck with dies that were totally worn out...giving it the look of wear. This is pretty common for 1922 cents.

That was a fun thread to read through. When I saw the coin in the OP, I could see the full luster and know that this coin among others in the '20's and '30's Lincoln Cents are notorious for heavily worn dies. My initial impression was 62 with a shot at 63. I wish I could have seen this thread and chimed in earlier, but I am also glad I did not have to wait to confirm my guess. :)
