I picked this up today because I noticed it has a clashed die. I was wondering if anybody could figure out what it was clashed with. You can see it near the date, the head of liberty, and by the drapery. It is in an ICG au 53 slab. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you. DCHD0127.JPG DCHD0128.JPG DCHD0129.JPG DCHD0131.JPG

Some of what I'm seeing is clash from the reverse die but there is more going on with this coin. I don't know what it is.

that's the clash if you study it closely you'll see, also this is an RPD 002 the 6 has the slanted serif not the ball type.

I'll try to, It is always a pain for me to photograph small coins especially in slabs.

Iv'e got to be able to see the entire coin to make a call , however the last over lay posted is what you're seeing as if you study the coin and the over lay you'll see how the coin is clashed.

This is a very strong, unabraded die clash that is found on a 1862 half dime.

This was album toned dark "terminal " then dipped you can see the old tone on the reverse in the device's. This is why when you buy ICG graded coins you need be careful.
Plenty of details but a detailed coin due to harsh cleaning and not noted on the slab. Notice the lack of luster...harsh dip that removed any luster under the tone. For the right money yes I would of purchased for the variety....pcgs,ngc, and anacs would of bagged this one.

Cheech not to confuse you but I am Paddy who is really Irish.....now Paddyman is Hispanic and isn't really Irish .....you see some Italian thought that Paddyman sir name was Irish when in fact it isn't. Now as an Irishman I don't mind that Paddyman pretends to be Irish especially around March 17....as come May 5th I get out a bottle of Patron and pretend to be Hispanic.....it's all good but I am me and he is him...him isn't Irish and I ain't Hispanic.... now paddyman is going to draw you a diagram of the two different DNA's so you won't be so confused.

Rule one, buy the coin, not the slab. I paid $30 and only reason I did buy it is for the clashed die. I've never owned a half dime with this much going on. A while back you even noticed a repunched O on the reverse of my capped half dime, happy to say that came back VF 20, not sure if you recall that coin.

Thank you, the dealer and I both thought it was a little over graded so was able to negotiate it into the rest of the deal at what I thought was a fair price.

No for $30 I would also buy it even though it was cleaned, believe me I have cleaned and damaged specimens also in my collection if they can be aquired for a good price..... just was hard to believe that ICG would give it a straight grade . Still a neat clash coin
