There are, just found one myself. But, you won't see them coming out of my bank. I have all my fellow tellers holding "interesting" items for me. :goofer:

I'm in the boat where most of the tellers I deal with are actually more likely to buy the notes themselves. The best I can hope for with them would be a $1,000 bill that they couldn't afford to buy.

I talked to my bank a while back about the $1000.00 and they told me if they ever received one they couldn't sell it to me, they also said that it HAD to be sent back and destroyed:mad:

That is plain out false information.

yep, the teller you spoke to johndo is incorrect, i called my mother-in-law, who is a bank manager, and she said they dont 'have' to send anything back. they choose to send worn notes back, but like any other note, they could exchange it for face value to any customer.

I posted a thread here with the Federal Reserve's circular on unfit notes. While the note would be destroyed if sent bank, there is no requirement to send anything back.

Heck, just stop in and ask any 5/3 bank about it. They literally send nothing back. If you tore a note up into 50 pieces, taped it back together, used it to make a deposit at 5/3, they would actually pass that note off onto another customer.
