Okay, I got some pics of the wheats from the thirties. I have full intentions on keeping all of them, not selling or anything, but I would like to know: grade opinions please, possible value, and all comments and opinions. Thanks guys. Some have fingerprints and marks, but all still very nice coins I think. I'll be doing them by decades, still gotta get pics of the fourties and fifties. Here are cents: 36 D 36 S 37 D 37 S Phoenix
38 D 38 S 39 S 39 D These are as good as I could get them, if not good enough I can try to get some more pics. I tried getting them to look like the coin in hand, and they pretty much do. :thumb: Despite some marks and all, I think these are still some really nice coins, and I really like them. Thanks ahead of time for all comments and opinions! Phoenix
Hey Phoenix them are some nice coins. Worth more than you might think too. So it looks like your off to a great start on you MS set. Did the ones I sent you come in yet??? I got the package you sent me today. Thank You
Is that maple syrup on the 37 D ? I wondered what people used to retone. *BTW... just a joke concerning retoning*
Yea, it looks like you have the tougher ones knocked out already. Now its just the easy ones to worry about, 36, 37, 38, 39. All no mintmarks.
Nice coins! I just managed to win a few rd's off heritage last week. I will post the only real lincoln in my collection (added today) so far. All the rest are really in a coin jar piled together. The one I do have is not as nice as yours, but you can check it out I am going to post it in a couple of minutes.
Bad choice of words on my part, but it is one I toss in the old coin jar(actually a can) - really only worth the copper. Those are the ones that are green, scratched and/or ag common date coins. If it is not in my safe it is not part of my collection. I keep hoping one day one of my nephews will decide to start collecting and I can start them off with some of these coins. So far my lincoln wheat cent collection consists of 1 coin - the 1922 plain I posted in the US forum, but I did just win a few off heritage last week. I keep thinking it would be cool to have a complete date cent collection from 1793 to date.
Thanks guys! My set has come really along way, got some more red cents in the mail today I will post after the holidays. My goal is to build a VF/XF set of cents 1909-1933 (common dates a little better) and then do a set of BU red cents 1934-1958. Gotta ways to go, but I think I should put both together okay. In touch with someone on here purchasing a few more cents for my VF/XF set (including a VF-25 24 D!) and then I am possibly purchasing a VF 11S cent from someone. Wish me luck, and thanks for the comments! Anyone want to offer any grade opinions to any of the cents? Phoenix
May I suggest that if you ever intend to sell the 34-58 coins, you try for the certified coins. I am guessing (hoping?) that when they release the 100th anniversary coins and the interest goes up, that is where the interest will begin.
Nice Wheaties Phoenix! I think that on average they are MS-63's but a couple might go higher. It is hard to really grade them based on pics! Frank
Oh man, I'd love to get some slabbed 66's or 67's, but some are a little out of my ballpark right now. Basically my goal is to get all the semi keys for my lincoln set (09-33), and then do this set, and then go back and fill in the rest of my 09-33 set. Basically my plan is to get all the coins that have under 5 million mintage (excluding 09 S VDB, 14 D, and maybe wait on the 09 S), and then do this set basically is my game plan. But, you never really know I guess. Thanks for the tip man. :thumb: Thanks man! That's what I was figuring with them, but neverless still fit into the category of BU R for me. Thanks man! Thanks! Phoenix
37 S I have been looking more and more at the 1937 S cent, and I was wondering if this one might possibly score a 66 or a 67 if sent into grading? Opinions? I don't know if the toning or anything would keep it from getting that. I am still a bit of a novice at grading higher end coins, so I need y'all experts opinions. Thanks. I was just wondering about it. Phoenix
Nice uncirculated Wheat Cents from the 30s and even early 40s are really hot right now. Anytime we get them in stock as singles, they sell almost instantly.
HOLY COW !!!! My best educated guess, and these will be if you sent to NGC, 36D 66RD 36S 66RB 37D 64RB 37S 65RB 38D 65RB 38S 65RB 39S 64RB 39D 65RB I don't see a 63 in the bunch, myself Rlm, what do you think? I think you'd know as well as anybody also on these. All in all Tyler, what a great start to a beautiful set of Abes, and GREAT pictures to boot !!! Aj
