I am interested in something but says I am not allowed to post (reply) in for sale section. What do I have to do?

Send them a private message about the item.

Understood. But, wondering what I have to do to be able to post in there

You can only post in your own listing. None of us, except moderators, have the ability to post inside another person's for sale listing. At best, you can click the like button.

You simply start your own thread, just like you did here.

But only if you wish to buy, sell, or trade something ! In other words you cannot respond to a thread in the ad sections by starting your own thread there - or anywhere else on the forum.

Nobody is allowed to post a reply in any of the ad sections. The one and only way that anyone is permitted to respond to an ad is by sending a private message in a Conversation - addressed to the person who posted the ad.

Wouldn't posting a WTB and tagging the person who is selling it fulfill your requirements while still allowing someone to “reply” to a WTS? Just curious.

If you are asking me - could you make a post in the Want List section, and tag another member who had made a post in the For Sale section for example - would you be allowed to do that ?

Answer, no. That's because forum rules are that all transactions be done in private. Which is why the only way you are permitted to respond to an ad is by sending a private message.

So there’s no way to tag another person in a WTS listing? I’m thinking there is and I’m trying to figure out how you’d enforce this without reviewing and being familiar with every WTS listing?

Is it so much harder to just start a conversation with the seller?

I think you're looking for trouble. It appears to me that you just openly told one of the major moderators of the forum, that you plan to try to find a way to break the rules. Sounds like a good way to ask to be kicked out.

What a ridiculous notion. I didn’t openly do anything except ask further questions about something a moderator claimed was not possible. What I might be doing is exposing a potential flaw/gap in the rules and helping them figure out how to close that gap. At the very least, it’s something for them to consider as a potential point of interest: should we be allowed to tag someone in our WTB/WTS/WTT listings? I personally consider this a reasonable question and hope that asking questions doesn’t make for grounds for being kicked off a site.

Not at all, but it begs the question whether tagging someone in WTT/WTB/WTS listings is allowed. I don’t remember seeing it in the rules. If it’s not allowed, it should not be possible or Ben explicitly stated. I would hate to see a member kicked out for violating something they weren’t informed was not allowed.

If you think that a particular member may be interested in your item enough to tag em in the post, why not just PM them before you post the item? It has happened to me a couple of times.

It makes sense. Perhaps someone has several items for sale and only thinks a single member will purchase a specific item. Perhaps the member is in a rush to sell an item. Perhaps the member just wants to show off the coin for sale. I’m not saying it makes perfect sense, I’m just saying there are scenarios where I could foresee someone tagging another person in their listing. If it’s strictly forbidden, it should be explicitly stated or not possible to do. Frankly, I don’t see the harm in tagging someone in a WTS/WTB/WTT. I also don’t moderate this forum and didn’t write the rules, so I could be overlooking something.

Maybe I'm over looking something but if I understand your question, you would have had to make ten post in the form's before you are allowed to do anything in the ad section.
Post ten of your own threads rather it's in what's it worth, error, or ect. Like I said if I understand what you are asking.JMHO
