silver looking 1976 d penny

    I fond a penny don't know what it is or if its rare. it doesn't stick to a mag. and I'm looking for some info on it plz.

    You would need a pic for us to say for sure. But most likely a novelty plated item.

    Stuwie, there are loads of ways to plate bronze coins, especially when they're still lustrous and take the plating really well. Yours is a 1976, and that was the beginning of the mini-lab / one-hour-photo business. One of the easiest ways I plated cents was to hang them in a little basket in the Fixer solution of the negative processing line. They would take up a true silver plating in less than 30 seconds. Gorgeous, they were.

    I have one of these too. Super late to the party I know but I’ve searched other forums and they are all 1976 D penny’s. I can’t find any other answer though.
