I just received this link from one of my Aussie mates Good tips but a little hokey http://www.deadzoom.com/member/nktower/tutorials/Photographing_Small_Objects.html Hope this helps me and some of us to take better pictures Richard
I use a milk/water jug too! However, I put the coin/object on a black porous background (i.e., black cloth) so NO adjacent light is reflected to and from the object. Here's what I got my idea from...this article with pics: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/photo/essays/vanRiper/020809.htm Also, I use a tri-pod, macro setting, GE Reveal Light Bulbs (No Flash) for the best results. Then practice!
That was a great posting rggoodie. Whenever I find the time to photo my collection, I will now know what to do.
Thanks Richard. I never gave that idea a thought. It really diffused the light well. That may take some of the hash lines and shadows off when doing coins. catman
