Finally found a nice Postumus as an upgrade for my badly cracked green stuff coin. These approx. 10% silver contence coins are not easy to find in good condition. part of a 7 coin lot bought on a local site for $39 incl shipping, with other nice coins as Agrippa , Claudius Gothicus, Gratian , Gallinenus and Marcus Aurelius. * Show us your Postumus coins, thanks
Talk about deal of the century! Congrats on the beautiful Postumus My best looks far worse than yours...before the upgrade! But you asked, so here is the man who started the Gallic empire. Postumus Romano-Gallic Emperor, AD 260-269. Æ Irregular mint – "Mint II". 2nd bronze phase, first period, AD 264-266. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Pax advancing left, holding branch and scepter Congrats again on the score and beautiful coin.
WOW, great upgrade @Andres2 ! Here are a couple: RI Postumus 259-268 CE Antoninianus Cologne Oriens ex tif RI Postumus struck by Aureolus 268 CE Revolt of Milan Concordia
That new one looks awesome, Andres. Do we get to see the other coins in the lot? POSTUMUS Billon Antoninianus. 4.34g, 23.8mm. Trier mint, 1st emission, 3rd phase, AD 260-261. RIC V 64; Mairat 12-7; AGK 25; RSC 9. O: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. R: HERC DEVSONIENSI, Hercules standing right, holding bow and lion's skin in left hand and club in right hand.
I can not imagine why anyone would collect coins of such an ugly fellow. This double sestertius comes with a bonus Antoninus Pius undertype. His profile is above and right of that of Postumus. The Postumus reverse was the galley but what was the Pius?
