I typically empty my pockets on my nightstand at the end of the day. In the mornings, I pick through the pile and rake the rest into the drawer within it. I tinker a lot so the pile usually consist of various nothings that I have subconsciously considered worth keeping.

Every once in a while, the wife, void of her loving smile, empties my drawer into a box, and generally gives me an hour or so to get rid of it, or it goes in the black hole that she insist on putting my other valuables, never to be seen again.

Here in the South, it has been a delightful day. So what a better thing to do than to straighten up my stored nothing's. I never notice the clutter in my shop until it gets to where there is no room to get out of the rain. When I rolled up the door, I seriouly thought about closing it back and building another one.

I sat on a bucket for the first hour or so, drinking coffee and wondering what the fire would cost if I just shot a flaming arrow up among it. I figured that I might need a few of those things to sell to pay the fire dept. So I decided to start pulling some of it out. Box after box of why in the world did I keep this, and then while moving a box of nightstand debris, I heard a rattle that sounded familiar.

Sorting through junk can get overwhelming, for me and the trash cans (full after an hour), but a little surprise every once in a while can keep the task going. I opened the box and dug through the various, wtfs and there it was, semiprecious metal. Jackpot!

Why would I have let this slip by? Could it possibly be worth enough to build another shop and pay the fine for an accidental arsonage? Or will I have to go back at it tomorrow? Help me out here guys. And if any of you are thinking that you're going to try and beat me out of discovering it, I have proof here that I may have been the first.

It looks like someone used nippers, first, to make the cuts around the perimeter, but when it still wouldn't die, they shot it, tearing out a section between the cuts.
