Trying to get a good picture with my new digital scope. What I think that i see is a die crack starting at the inner edge of the rim, going into the banner field and then into the" o" of the word one. Picture is not the greatest, but I hope it will do for establishing if it is a die crack. Thanks ahead of time for your help.
Yes, a die crack and this area along with the top left of the Shield seem to be stress points for all of the Shield cents.
I almost didn't give you a like for calling it a Penny.. It clearly states CENT on the shield. But it's a neat Die Crack so I gave it to you!
Yes, @Gunner1944 , it is a die crack, but I think you have it backwards. I believe that it started in the shield and worked its way out toward the rim. The reason I suggest this is because there is greater expansion of the break on the shield than there is in the field. Chris
I see you are from Florida. My metal detecting Buddy just came back from vacation down there with 2 boxes of pennies for us to check. We are in Mass. What a riot it was for him going through the security check.
Haha.. That's fine with me. It's an old argument some of us have. I even created a thread about it 3 years ago. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/cent-vs-penny-what-is-the-correct-term.259971/
Paddy, I read the thread. Pretty cool actually. Penny or cent, I think we all know what they are. You were going to post a Dominican Centavo?
Yes.. But I had a leak and partial ceiling collapse at home from apartment above us. Had to store my coins away before they got damaged. Soon.
