These are some of my nicer dug indian head pennies. Years and condition wise. I have many newer year Indians in nice shape.

Nice finds!!! I didn't get a change to go out too much this year, my best find was a wheat cent (can't remember the year, common). Heck, my best find ever was a '46 Roosie in AU. My oldest find is a '29 Wheat.

Oh well, I still have a blast digging up moderns, tokens, and who knows what else the ground has been hiding. Hopefully I'll get out more this spring and post some good finds!!

    Good luck and keep hunting!!!

Dang! You dug those out of the ground? That's awesome! Those look a whole lot nicer than some I've seen for sale in the stores....

    Rachel :p

Very nice finds! My son got a metal detector for Christmas. I know he'll be out there digging as soon as the weather warms up some. :D

Wow, Jim. That '65 looks close to uncirculated.

How about the "64? CN, or bronze?

I showed my son the pictures and he said he's going to try out his new metal detector tomorrow :D

You know Susan, I think I'm going to get my oldest boy a metal detector next Christmas. The more I read posts on the matter and the more I look into it the more fun it sounds. Jimmy thanks for sharing those views but then again you "super cool". I was wondering what research or features in the landscape makes you pick out a spot to go detecting?

Those are really nice! OK! I'm gonna do it. I am going to get my metal detector out and start looking and stop thinking about it.

Very nice stuff. I have to get a detector this year. I'm surrounded by old farm houses. There are even a couple of lost treasures in the area... one from a silver mine and one from a bank robbery.

Wow -- that 1865 is nicer than the one in my collection!

And congrats again on the '77. That's one heck of a find. You have some pretty good dates in this run...

Thanks all. Its a blast finding old coins in the dirt. Fun stuff.
Hey Jody, the 64 is bronze. The nickel ones or "fatties" come outta the ground all rusted just like a nickel would. I have found 4 flying eagle pennies and a few nickel indians but they just don't hold up to well.
Andy, the best places to detect are the front yards of old farm houses. Plus old church yards and one room school sites. Old parks are fun but so many other detectorist have already hit them pretty hard.
