Can anyone recommend a good comprehensive (as can be...) book detailing errors and possibly prices? I'm getting interested in starting to collect them and would like some research to do. TIA :)

Error Coin Price Guide by Alan Herbert. Alan Herbert is probably the most knowledgeable about errors. Prices in the book are very general, could go higher or lower.

Also, join an error coin club like CONECA. Lots of info about errors, collectors, and dealers.

An error coin dealer (Fred Weinberg-mostly high end stuff, Ken Potter-lots of low to medium priced coins, lots of others) is probably best to get a handle on error coin pricing. Get on a mailing list or two and you will get lots of error coin price lists. That will give you a good idea of practical error coin pricing. Might even find something to buy.

I use The Error Coin Encyclopedia II by Arnold Margolis. I find it excellent for ID of errors, but the prices probably aren't all that accurate.

No date buffalo's are just highly circulated coins that have had the date worn off. They are commonly used for jewelry or crafts but are not worth much more than a nickel.

There is a product called nic-a-date that will "raise" the date. It may be fun to do but then you have an altered coin still not worth much.
