Strange mint mark

    Any ideas what is going on with the mint mark on this Roosevelt dime? I've posted this image many times over the years on various pages/groups and no one seems to know what to tell me.

    Comparing it to the date, I would say die deterioration with a die chip at the mint mark. Wait for the others to chime in. Nothing major though IMHO.

    By the over all look of the coin (from what can be seen anyway) I cannot help but to think chips or the like.
