My newest coin, which I wanted to share with the group: THRACE, Maroneia. Late 2nd-mid 1st centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (32.5mm, 15.61 g, 12h). Wreathed head of young Dionysos right / Dionysos standing half-left, holding grapes and narthex stalks; monograms flanking. Schönert-Geiss 1210 (V65/R214); HGC 3, 1556. Good VF, bright surfaces. Ex. CNG. There is something special about any coin wider than 30mm. This one really is much nicer in hand. Please post your coins featuring Dionysos!

Hurray!! Ive been waiting patiently for a chance to post my first Greek! Your silver is awesome. I'll add a bronze: I'm in a waiting room, so I don't have the exact attribution on hand, but Dionysos is on both sides. The reverse image features a nude Dionysos holding two stalks of narthex (fennel) which was used to flavor wine, and a bundle of grapes. This coin cost me 20 bucks. Thanks to John Anthony!!

Gorgeous coin @Nicholas Molinari ! WOW, I forgot I HAD this one! Thrace Maroneia 146 BC Dionysos AE 17 Grapes Narthex Thrace Thasos 146-50 BCE AR Tet 33mm 16.5g Dionysos Herakles Club Lion skin
This one is particularly fine style. It's one of my favourites. I want to get more, to illustrate range of style and quality of die. There are some great barbarian imitations, but I'm scared of fakes. Any advice on how to acquire 'safe' ones would be appreciated.
I actually gravitated toward the cruder style on these. There's something interesting about it that appealed to me. I agree, having a set to illustrate style differences would be great.
