There is a story in this month's World Coin News. Apparently a 1621 gold 100 ducat sold recently for $2,160,000. The report says that this makes it in the top 4 of 5 most expensive coins of all time. A bit expensive for a coin which only weighs eleven ounces. https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=350283
O, now ya did it!.. he'll be on here shortly saying he'd already spent down to his last million euros for coins and had to let this one go.
Is Panzerman at it again? I sorta figured he was. I mean he buys everything else in sight - why not that ? edit - Just realized, he kinda remind me of - well, me - back when I was me - only on steroids
Sakata/ There are probably 100 coins or more, that are worth more then the Poland coin(the way prices are going skyhigh) will be more next year. The Mughal Empire/ India 1000/ 500/ 200/ 100 AV Mohurs are all over 10 million. Then that Bactria AV 20 Staters probably would go 20 million. The US 1933 Double eagle 7.3M is vastlt overpriced, there are 16 examples.... John
Its really hard to figure true numbers, you cannot rely on any website to list top auction records. Some coins never go to auction for years and years.
