20180321_160724.jpg first let me clarify. I'm only asking. Not claiming anything. I've heard of some dimes with a 5.on the face. Look just to the left of the earlobe. The 5 starts there. Any info on this? Are they rare or is this common?

You will find this term used here quite often.

Pareidolia (/pærᵻˈdoʊliə/ pair-i-DOH-lee-ə) is a psychological phenomenon in which the mind responds to a stimulus, usually an image or a sound, by perceiving a familiar pattern where none exists (e.g., in random data).

I can see some kind of markings, but it is just PMD or Post Minting Damage that occurred outside the mint. Markings can look like familiar objects, our mind does that. Like the "face" on Mars....yeah, what Chris said...

One of the guidelines I have found helpful is to ask yourself "How could that have happened in the Mint."

Chris answer is sound for sure. There is no way a 5 could be on the coin unless someone placed one there after it left the Mint. Kind of like the face of Jesus on a potato chip that someone made a big deal about or the face on Mars that someone else claimed to be real.

And Kentucky's answer also brings us back to the research topic. If someone claimed this really came from the Mint like this or was some form of error, then they would be deceiving anyone who read it.

The bottom line is this- I was referred to this site and told that this is where I could go and get alot of my questions answered. Unfortunately the majority of my research was you tube. Then I get here only to find out most of it was wrong. So of course I'm going to have a million questions. Some of u are helpful and others not so much. So to them- u dont have to answer or even read what i post for that matter. For those of u that are genuinely helpful, i greatly appreciate the info and will thank u again.

Yep, it def. looks like a five but is likely an imperfection in the striking process. Knowing the minting process there is no way a five could be added like this and especially the shape of it. Edit, By the way, did you come here after being recommended from a site called Listia? I did send a bunch of members from there to here to help them out.

This doesn't look like your dime. I really don't see anything on your dime.

Screenshot_20180321-175207.jpg I'm familiar with the term. However I don't think that's what this is. Other people have seen them on different dimes. I have also. As a "test" I just showed that to 3 different people without saying anything other than do you see anything out of the ordinary? All 3 said they see a 5. I know what ur saying. I wouldn't think anything of it had I not heard about it on other coins. Again- I'm only asking here guys. I'm not disagreeing with any of u. I'll use this as an example. When his reply said that term is used here quite often and showed the definition, my reply was not meant to say he's wrong or that I'm right. It's me asking after this do u still think that's what is happening? I'm asking how that could be when others are seeing this on different coins? Not just me on mine. That's all

Out of curiosity, were those three people experienced collectors, accustomed to dealing with errors and varieties? I'll bet you could take the same coin to the sidewalks of Times Square in NYC and get the same remarks from 10,000 people whose only experience with coins was to put them in a parking meter. There is a big difference!

Remember, Paddy, he started with YouTube, so we've a lot of reeducating to do. Patience is certainly warranted. :)

In two unrelated possible die chips which the mind puts together to see is the bottom curve of the 5 and the top and bottom corners of the vertical of the 5, but the 5 itself is not there the mind simply puts it together. If you've been asked me what I see before telling me it was a 5 I probably would not of seen it.

Not to disparage your coin, but if I scratched a 5 on a coin and showed it to 100 people, they would see it, but it still never came that way from the mint. There is no way that that could have occurred at the Mint.

The one on the right seems more fitting considering the times... ;)
