I am now 0-5 trying to get a AV Solidus from this Emperor:( Yesterday, I had a bid on a Kunker example (2500 euros)
Well, today I found out that I lost it by 100 euros! Their estimate was 1500/ so I thought 2500 would be a winner/ I was wrong.

I definately will not give up, next time.....

Since I collect everything....I got some bids on their "Gold coinage auction 306" on Thursday/Friday. If that turns out badly....there is always Elsen's on Saturday:happy:

Bummer! I will let you have my semissis for 2500 euros. Heck, make it 2500 CAD. It's only slightly less than mint state. ;)

Talking about Canadian Peso:inpain:! I went to buy a bank draft at Royal Bank to pay for lots from Gorny&Mosch Auction.
1000 EUROS cost me......$1678.00 Can. Dollar. All you guys/ gals living in Europe/ UK/ USA are soooooooo lucky.
In ERIC II it says that there are less then 200 AV coins in existence from Basiliscus/ the semissis are the rarest!

FWIW, I noticed most Roman imperials were going pretty strong during Kunker's Monday session.

Yup. It ain't pretty, but it's rare! Only 3 show up on acsearch, 2 are die-linked to mine.

To get a much better exchange rate, I HIGHLY recommend Transferwise. The money arrives as a domestic transfer (so typically no fees for the recipient), and you'll save a bundle on the exchange.

It seems Künker rarely suffers from low bidder interest! I usually skip it because I have always been skunked. This time I was nearly skunked, but managed to pick up my first aes grave! (An uncia.)

Congrats! I'm looking forward to you sharing here.

I also was successful with the one lot I was gunning for. I was quite happy with the hammer price. :)
