I was at a local drive-in getting a burger for dinner. I used a couple $2s as part of my payment. I'm holding the cash while the order was being gathered. A lady next to me asks if she can by the $2s for her kids. Sure, I say. I have more in my wallet so I trade her two nicer $2s for a $5. Works for me Now if I could do that a couple hundred times a day...
Many people, especially those under 25, have never seen a $2.00 bill, as they are not usually in circulation. The woman was perfectly correct in thinking they would be something "different" for her kids. The $5.00 bill offered won't make either party any richer, or poorer... A couple of weeks ago, I stopped at my bank, where I frequently pick up one or two hundred $1.00 bills, to see what I can find, especially star notes and better serial numbers. This time I asked for 100 $2.00 bills. They told me they don't get enough of them to make up the packs of 25 notes. Between the three tellers working, they had 4 of the $2's, nothing of any interest. So they are a modern oddity, and much more harmless than some of the odd humans around us. Just my humble opinion, bemoaning the current state of our country. Sorry, not usually political, but this is economic also.
I buy a block of brand new uncirculated $2 bills anytime I want to order them. They know me quite well at my local bank. I love $2 bills! I order blocks of new $1 bills now and then too. Last year I got a block of $2 bills that had two complete packs of star notes. Haven't duplicated that since but sure wish I could.
