My mom has a nickel that appears to have the back on both sides. Since it's the back, there is no year printed. Is this an error?

Might be, but it highly unlikely. Sounds like a magicians coin to me, but we can't really be sure without a pic. Could you post a pic? If it is a magicians coin, it is probably worth a few dollars, if it is a real two headed coin, it is in the thousands. Best of luck. :thumb:

    2 sided nickel

Thanks for the feedback on the mystery nickel. I took another look at it, and it is a magician's nickel. I can see a line where the two sides have been put together. If my mom wants to sell it, how much is it worth and where could she sell it?

They sell for about $5 to $10 at magicians stores. Same as novelties at coin shows. Note there are several distinct varieties. The one you have is the one where two halves were put together. There is the type where a coin is hollowed out, second one has the rim reduced and placed in the hollowed out spot. Some have one side hollowed out and a dime inserted. Or a Cent. Some are Cents on one side and a dime on the other. Some are 2 headed and some 2 tailed. Regardless they all are about the same value.
