I'm having trouble finding a 2X2 cardboard holder that fits a canadian dollar coin from 1968-1986. A half dollar holder is too small and an Ike dollar holder is too big. Any suggestions?
2x2s come in a limited number of sizes, and many world coins have to go into holders designed for larger coins. In your case the Morgan/Peace/Ike size is the best you can do.
Thanks, I guess I'll use the bigger holders I have. Though I don't really like placing a smaller coin in a bigger holder.
Depending on your access to supplies you might be surprized to find out there are many manufacturers of 2x2 coin flips. Some are thicker than others and some have the slots for coins slightly different. At a coin show I go to there is guy that sells 2x2's and occationally some of the ones I get are a little thicker and the slots a slight bit different for the same coins. If you have a large coin store or coin show in your area you may want to check this out. Then of course there is the logical thing and that is to try to find out the name of some manufacturers and email or write them.
Up here we just use the ones for Ike's anyway. Not enough calling for an in-between size. We also use the JFK half size for the clad half dollars for the same reason.
Thanks, I guess that is what I'll have to use then. Now if my new flat clinch stapler would arrive in the mail I could get started.
Hmmm.....instead of collecting the coin and then struggling to find a holder that is satisfactory to you...maybe buy the holders that are available and only collect coins that will fit it. Revolutionary ...I know.
