That is what is called a die clash. Prior to this coin being struck the dies came together without a planchet in between them causing damage to the dies. Each coin struck after the damage will appear to have the reverse design show on the obverse and vice versa. Save your money with a bid of over $20. it's already too high. I sold one a couple weeks ago for less than $5 and that was for a mint state example 1984 Lincoln.
Nope, A clash is iincused, the seller says this is in RELIEF! Nope, have my book right here and it says that die clash errors are incused, the seller says this one is in relief or risen up from the coin, two different animals, not a clash. I own clashes in PCGS slabs, they are incused. There are centered multi struck coins, some of them flip, my book says this is rare and worth at least $700 unlike a clash...

I disagree over the title of flip over strike. I have seen a fair amount of overstrikes and own a fair bit of Russian overstruck coins but this unfortunately doesn't seem to be it. Usually in a sign of an overstrike, there is significant amount of details IN both the backfront and the design. The coin however only shows some "relief" design in the center of the coin. Furthermore in the reverse of the coin, the seller points to the hair outline and the ear. But notice where the ear and outline is at. The hair outline is at the RIGHT side of the coin, not LEFT. Therefore this is just a die clash, not overstrike as the seller mentioned.

Coin: Agreed, the designs would be incused . The areas between the designs, here the spaces between the columns in the memorial, would be raised, since the design would be incused, the spaces would be raised.
I'm betting you'll win with a $70 bid. I say an error is worth what someone will pay for it NOT what some book says. Now having not heard a lot about this "rare" error I don't see it hitting 1955 Double Die status at any time. This may indeed be a rare error but apparently the demand is not too high. I agree with Treashunt about the "Bidders ID kept private" never understood that. I also have a problem with the seller's overuse of the word rare and even ultra rare. Geez, he even uses the word rare in an answer to a question. On the other hand if it's worth $70 to you good luck and enjoy it!
If I ever sell it (IF I win it) it would be in a PCGS slab, I dont buy to re-sale, I am a collector for fun and like very odd coins. I am posting a couple of pictures of MY finds! I like to search nice fresh mint bags since most of my own collection consisits of unc only with a few nicer EF to AU coins... I am going to post a few pictures here and maybe get some help on what to call some I plan to send to NGC or PCGS including a Washington First Day Cover with some kind of dramatic error on it I have to work today, but I hope you are on alot, you seem to know what you are talking about and I just discovered this forum. I hope it is ok to ask some questions here. Money is not really important to me, but nice coins are! Thanks for your help!

This is definately a die clash. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If i could get $20 for each of the 6 coins that I have that are the same as this one I would be happy, except that I don't believe in stealing other peoples money. Sending this coin to be slabbed will cost more than the coin will ever be worth. Good luck Richard
