I went and looked on Error reference, it seems that even a dollar coin struck on a dime planchet, would have a strong strike. It just seemed pretty odd to have full design features. I also would have liked to see the weight on the slab.
Ok. I weighed it. However, I don't know how much this PCGS generation holder weighs if it were an empty nickel slab to figure out what the coin itself weighs. You will also notice it looks much bigger/wider than a stamped nickel on a nickel slab; it is. Notice this photo I took with a regular, non-error issue nickel on top of it. Though I can't get a clear shot of it, I can tell you the quarter error is visibly thinner than the regular nickel. I am guessing it is wider/bigger because (a) the die pressure to stamp a quarter is greater than for a nickel and/or (b) because they have different metallic compositions, one metal alloy is softer than the other. This quarter is also neat because part of it has a reeded edge, and part of it does not.
