I figured that. I've actually tired to contact Loomis directly here and purchase some half dollar boxes from them. However, I feel the supply still comes mainly from my area, and they might've been sorted through many times already.

One of the tellers here in California told me a customer came in recently and wanted cash for a $20 gold coin. She turned him down saying it was worth a lot more and to look it up on the internet! That is an honest teller!

We (Dad and I) have been out and about. Haven't looked at a roll yet today. But last night had a very nice 64 and 79 copper, the first two coins I pulled off a copper stack.

Also true in my town, but I still try. Despite the low odds of finding anything, I ordered $500 in halves before I left for vacation because it’s a hobby and I enjoy the thrill of the hunt from time to time.

It’s okay to slow down, or even stop for awhile.

A very interesting box of halves here men; not for the 5x 40%'ers (2x '66, 2x '67, '69), but for about 40 '71-'76 that gotta' be 58+++, easily - pics later here.

Maybe 12 rolls had '77 and later; all the rest rolls were avg HALF '76 Bicent's. I never seen so many '76 in one box halves - after 3 rolls, I knew I was gettin' 7-8+ Silvers (not quite). First one was roll 6 or 7. At about # 15, I realized NFString rolls. Didn't scare me the least. Dumped that roll, had an 'ender' (from bottom). Another about roll 18. 1 more by 30th roll, the '69 near last of last 20 rolls.

I knew I'd find no Proofs after a few rolls - I think most of these rolls were rolled about '76.

But biggest deal I think is 20 or so '71 - '76 that look near UNC, and about as many more later that look - well, not Proof, but ripped from Mint Sets, and rolled.

Will be back to bank early Monday, to get 2 more, by chance same source...

I find a lot of really nice 70's halves in the boxes I search. I pulled them all out for awhile until it got to be too many. Dumped them all....You're welcome ;)

Yes Tx; this box was sealed, and I'm trying to examine 'seal' process, because it is unlike other boxes...

I'm interested in Loomis contact results LHN; I'm considering contact too, after finding a 'virgin' Halves box, delivered to my bank, UNsealed.

I'm a shareholder in Loomis / WF Bank, but so 'minority' # of shares, I wonder what questions my call would [not] get answered...

    You?

Pretty sure they wouldn't work with you unless you are a business and have $$$$. Not worth their time.

    Guys.
    Best day ever.
    CRHing milestone for me.
Something I'd always dreamed of, but never thought would happen.
I told the teller "don't give me a heart attack"
    But she did anyway.

The teller said she has 13 in dollars, two of which were really old, and she asked if I wanted them.
I said of course, as long as you don't want them.
I never thought that I would find a Morgan ever, nevertheless two. That teller single handedly doubled the Morgan's in my collection.
If I may mention, this is at a bank I'm a well known non customer.
This is also my oldest find to date.
Can you tell I'm very happy?

I'll be posting an individual thread on this because it definitely needs site wide attention... however I'm too tired now to draft a nice thread.

    Good luck to all!

There’s nothing like the feeling of getting a Morgan for $1, let alone getting two! Congratulations!

Congrats Ace! Amazing to say the least!! That score should keep you floating for quite a while. Again, thank you to all the wonderful tellers out there.

Yes LNH, I am interested in contact results, regardless of idle banter there; thanks!

'pretty sure'? Why you thinkin' that pal?

No matter; you're pretty WRONG. I AM a retired business, and I DID contract with First Union Corporate (same as WF Bank / Loomis nowadays), and DO have MORE THAN $$$$ (closer to 6$, than 5$, in WF right now), NOT counting common stock.

I'm 100% sure I have 0 tolerance for arrogance or insolence from one whom I didn't address.

    1970-S Small Date????
I know, everyone and their brother has posted a coin hoping they have it in hand. This one is tough because the toning makes it even harder to tell. But, it looks like the small date to me. 6 characteristics make me think so:
    1) Loop of the 9 bending towards the 7
    2) Wideness of the 9
    3) Top of the 7 even with 1, 9, 0
    4) No crease where the horizontal bar of the 7 meets the diagonal bar of the 7
    5) Weakness of strike in Liberty
    6) 0 is slight tilted NE -SW

Let me know if I’m right. Thanks!
