Recent acquisitions . . . A very scarce and underrated 1841 seated half dollar housed in an NGC VF Details holder . . . not a pretty coin, but decent. A nice 1878 Quarter Eagle . . . A rare cameo proof 1952 LWC .. . that's a patch of rose & blue toning at UNITED, not pitting or other damage. A pretty nice looking BU 1920 Saint . . . A very scarce 1848 Seated Dollar . . . great originality.
Annapolis show today was pretty good one for me picked up several nice finds. 1848/8 H-10 and a 1849/6 H-10
I also scored this IHC woodie 1900 RPD What's strange under the chin there appears to be what looks like to me a base of a 1 and the 1 is going up into the jaw line. RPD 012 snow 14
Took my son (7) to his first coin show over the weekend. We had a blast, and he left with the pictured coins for his US type set. We enjoyed visiting with some very kind dealers who seemed happy that the little fella had caught the bug. Tooth fairy and birthday money funded the purchases
The last 2 weeks were good for me in collecting in retail, both coin and paper. I found 2 proofs (not silver), a 2008 quarter and 2016 nickel, and 2 40% quarters 1999 and 2003 Six silver dimes, 2 1964, 1 each 1946, 1948, 1953 and 1963 2 1943 war nickels For paper I found 4 silver certificates, 2 1957 and 2 1935 1950 10 and 20 dollar bills, and a 1928 20 dollar bill and finally 3 1963 $2 bills. The first one I got a week ago with a few creases, the other 2 I just got Saturday, both look perfect. All 3 are serials all from the same pack so I'm guessing the guy has a pack of 100 and is pulling them out to spend them. Hope to see more of these! Oh, almost forgot, 120 wheat pennies.
My 9yr old son and I hit a monthly show in our area yesterday. It's been working well for him as he gets decent freebies every time we attend the show.
I have a bunch of these, they are all 5.75 grams which is supposed to be 40%. They look silver but don't have the S mint
Just bought this off EBay for just under 60 bucks My plan is to crack it out for my Morgan book unless someone has a 80-S raw they don't need.
Finally got around to posting these other recent purchases... Both of these plan to be cracked out of their slabs and put in my book. Then a 04-O MS-62 PL
A new day for those who used to think that two-headed and two-tailed coins are impossible... PCGS has certified a two-tailed 1965-ish dime, three two-tailed Washington Quarters, and a two-headed nickel... and I believe there is a two-headed indian penny out there as well. Recently acquired these two, featured in the Spring 2018 Mint Error News, "Unique Chilean Numismatic Rarities" "Here is a unique group of numismatic rarities from Chile. They are Chilean 10 Pesos that were struck with two obverse dies and two reverse dies. This is a spectacular collection of Chilean unique numismatic rarities." - Issue 44, 2018, page 26.
