Based on the OP's first image, I agree he has a proof 1970 S SD. My go-to diagnostic is the bottom of the 1, 7 and 0 being level with each other. I am not deterred by the strong LIBERTY, or less-than-pointy 9. The inner curl of the 9 points in the right direction for a SD. Very nice find, MaxG! At one time, I collected nearly an entire roll of 70 S SD cents (business strike, not proof). I sold most of them in order to free up funds to complete a set. I'm not sure why, but I still have some pics of one mine. Never mind. This is my first post and I haven't figured out how to upload images yet. Edit: I figured it out thanks to the tutorial someone posted.
Thank You. Yeah Im still learning, at first I posted because I thought it was DD. But Thanks . I had posted coin cuz I was wondering if it was a DD. But with everyone's help turns out I have a SD. Much appreciated. Cuz on other pages I was just told it's not DD and to spend it. But I didn't want to just give up that quick. Glad I posted here.
Okay Here are the New Pictures Taken. Tried to do the closest on words before they get blurry. The Last Picture is the Left Leg of the Letter N in United.
The point is there for a small date, And, I agree with Kurt about it possibly not being a doubled die, If it is a Doubled Die, then there must be some die markers to prove that it Is.
I should be Thanking you Rick for helping out so much.. I have a question, Since ive never sent a coin to get graded yet. Does for example "PCGS" do their own research on CONECA sites to match or do they have own list? Or does the customer write it down on the 2x2 case when sending it in..
I see the funky wripple in the surface of the die. I just believe that there is atleast one die marker there to confirm a DDO, if not it just hasn't been documented.
Since it's not in the cherrypickers guide . Anacs will be the only one to put the DDO on the slab . But you have to pay a extra 7 bucks for the variety fee . 12 bucks if you don't know the DDO and want them ( Anacs ) to do it .
Coneca has staging for A & B . Stage A has no markers and Stage B markers state: Small die chip under the Left leg of the N of UNITED
