I would call it AG3 as to the value I have no idea
I am not an Indian head collector
    Just my 2 Cents worth

    I'd say G+ obverse, G- reverse.
Looks like some scratches on the reverse.
I am not a fan of the seller, tho.

wel I'm not actually considering buying it. I just have a coin that is the same year and almost identical in wear so I'm trying to get a ballpark idea as to the value of a similar coin.

I'd say AG. It's a pretty common date, so it might get $5. Of course, on Ebay anything's possible.

If a coin has one grade for the obverse and a different grade for the reverse, how does one determine the overall grade?

I guess I would assume the obverse is more important because it is the "face" of the coin, but I'm not sure.

I have a Stone Mountain Commerative coin where the obverse looks pretty good, but the reverse has heavy toning (almost copper in color). I know it is not worth much, but it is a good example of what I'm asking.

Grade is based on how the worst side grades. And toning, if attractive can be a plus - not a negative.

Gotta agree with that. Mainly the seller.

    "WOW!!

SOME OF THE NICEST INDIAN HEAD CENTS ON EBAY!!"

    and then....

"Coin grading is very subjective and I am by no means an expert as one person may grade a coin as a VG while another calls it an VG+."

Planting the seed that this coin might be VG or better which it IS NOT.

    Next we have..

"I pride myself in the fact that we offer our clients"

Is it I or WE? Or multiple personalities?

    Last but not least...

"Winning bidder: User ID kept private "

    I NEVER TRUST that.

Bottom line is the coin retails at $15 in G4 (I know I never mentioned that) but the seller is pushing it way to hard. Go to a show or a good coin shop for a coin like that. If not that then then find an ebay dealer that doesn't kill you with hype over a $10 coin. Remember shipping is almost another $4.
