This honestly (to me anyways) seems like it would be worth much more, just because of the toning. In my honest opinion, it's one of the most beautiful coins I've ever seen. It was buried in my father's coins for probably over 30 yrs at least, who knows how long it was buried in my grandparents things. My grandmother was from India and I know it came to the states with her.

I don't know anything about foreign coins, hell I don't even know anything aside from denominations of United States coins. I'm sure that I'm pushing it when I even say that I know denomination, but I'm really trying to learn.

Input/opinions are appreciated. If you can then please let me know your feelings on it. I think it's just amazing that they can end up like this naturally.

That's indeed a handsomely toned coin. Perfect? No, but considering its relatively modest circulated grade, it's a pretty good looking example. The "family heirloom" angle is neat.

I am guessing it looks like a worn down incused F on William's bottom left neck... means it is KM#449.3 Calcutta mint.

grade/value I am guessing your coin is in the F-VF grade range

    F-$7.50 VF-$15.00 XF-$30.00 UNC-$60.00

my Krause world catalog is old 2004. the values could be higher now.
    wait for more opinions...

I would judge it to be VF. If it is KM#449.3 then the current CV is $250. I have a lot of old Indian rupees and 1/2 rupees which I bought around 10 years ago and theCVs have gone up by lot since I bought them.

This coin is not VF. It is more like VG-F.

Lovely coin and its history is very interesting, You sentimental value is worth more than any other value!

I would have to agree... I'd put this grade as "Fine". European grading standards are a bit stricter than US, from what I've read. Also, just the detail of the hair puts it as an "F". Very nice coin, though!

Are a lot of them toned this way? Does that add any value ya think? I honestly can't say I've ever seen one with this strong of toning but, I'm sure it's not that unique.

The colors are so much more vibrant than the pictures make it look. Tried to capture it's colors but it's impossible.

Toning is in the eye of beholding buyer! What ever someone is willing to pay! Smiles!
