Ok, I just picked this up in an auction today.
I hope the pics are good enough for you to grade by.
She is, of course, prettier in hand but I think a lot shows in the pics.
Let's see what you think !

Oh, BTW, it is in a ANCAS holder.
So I guess you can post your grade and what ANACS graded it.
    :)

*note: there is small debris on the nose on the obv and a little on the bottom right of the wreath on the rev, in the holder*

Looks to be MS-63/64 to me. Beautiful toning...

Nice coin! I think MS63, but would not be surprised if was a 64.

For an O mint coin that has a pretty good strike and it has few marks. If not for the light scrathes on the cheek that coin would go 65, but with them - 64.

MS-64 easily, beautiful toning. :thumb: And like GD said, a very nice strike as well. :thumb: I wonder if that coin would grade DMPL if it didn't have that toning, looks like it has some cameo to it. Just my opinion. But still, a very nice coin. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

I was wondering when someone would comment that it was a New Orleans Morgie.
    :D

I believe the scratches on the cheek are abrasions in the surface of the toning.
Note that in the second picture they really don't show up.
That is why I posted two of both the obv & rev, with a slight shift in light source.
The slight fingerprint is somewhat distracting though (left obv, first pic).

I probly should have mentioned earlier that this is in an old, small ANACS holder.
I don't know if that would affect everyones opinion on what their grade might be.

I paid $215 for the coin, Phoenix.
I think there is a little mirror peeking through there, too.
    ;)

I am no grader, but I have seen coins marked up way more heavily in MS65 holders from NGC. The second photo makes the facial scratches disappear, so if they are not in the metal, I say a minimum of MS65. Really, really nice Morgan. Congratulations! Mike

From what I read in the grading guide, and from what I can see of the coin from the photos, I agree with the grade. All I can see from here is the lightest of contact marks in the hair and almost nothing anywhere else on the coin. Is that right? How do you feel about the grade with coin-in-hand? Mike

I was just about to say a high 65, low 66.

In hand, the coin shows PL fields shining through the gold toning.
The only possible hits are the very small one on the neck and the one in the hair.
I actually like the reverse better on this coin.
I'd say it's graded correctly, being its a New Orleans strike.
It was probly a high 65 then they remembered where it was from and said "whoa, that's worth a bump!".
    LOL

Man, can't really disagree with that! The toning was what put me off a tad, but I don't disagree with the grade, especially it being a New Orleans mint coin. Very nice coin man! :thumb:
