I love doing GTG's, especially on the early commemoratives, as too many folks seem to not be super familiar with them. So, on that note, what do you think this graded as? (2 sets of photo's, just to show how lighting can really change the look of a coin)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but i think i see PVC on both sides. With that said it's a really nice coin and I think it's a 65
I'm going to say 64 as the luster is mute....these were soft strikes ,however this one looks like a full strike. The Monroe is my favourite comm. The rev is so cool even showing the ocean currents.
And I believe Heavy is also with the green ick.....and that's a shame as it does have a nice strike... they just don't design or mint coins like this any longer.
I Think that there is plenty of luster, just thick toning. I see a lot of nicks and dings, on the reverse fields. MS64
MS 63 ...I wouldn't be surprised with MS 64 though...65 might surprise me as the guide jumps at that grade and I would expect grading to be tighter at that point
This bumped up my NGC Registry to 119. It was also an upgrade from an ICG AU58 I got in a package deal. Unfortunately, a 65 is out of the budget (for now).
