I can see this with my naked eye.. I just can't make the picture look so good. I don't know how a die chip can be made to occur so perfectly as to look like fading smoke from the chimney.. the smoke even widens at the top, flows with the wind, and flattens against the coin the further it floats away from the roof.. like it was put there on purpouse! The coin is in poor condition for it's age.. I'd like to find one of these in bu! I found this one myself (and trhe lincoln cent in my other post today) and lost them.. then just found them again today! Has anyone seen one like this??
nope, I havent seen it before. I just looked at all my rolls of 1989 from my circulated roll sets and out of more than 3 rolls, I didnt find one.
Thanks for the datapoint. Sad that I never thought to group my circulated stuff together by year.. pff. that would make it easier to re-check. I thought it would be cool to have the rolls 'as found'.. kinda thinking that I wish I had a 'natural' cirrculating roll from 1910. A "natural" roll of nickels from 2007 still contains a nice mix of the new designs and old.. and even a war every now and then. pretty cool mix. I found this after looking at every piece of about $120 in nickels last winter. It is definetly a raised lump of metal so theres GOTTA be others out there. There are a couple rolls on epay, but cripe there are tons of them cirrculating. I have another 80 pounds unsearched.. maybe I'll try my luck some more.
Die clash - really! I didn't even think to look.. part of the area near Jefferson's pony tail I guess? Thanks!
