Quarter Error??

    Can someone please explain what causes the lines in coins in the photos. Are these considered errors? I do come across these occasionally. Thanks for your knowledge it is greatly appreciated.

    The die that was used to mint your coin was well used. Probably close to the end of it's life.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

    Those are called flow lines. They are caused by worn dies.
