Any ideas on what this is besides fairly old and well worn? Size is between a modern quarter and a half. About the same as a large cent. Thanks, Charley

    A penny from Great Britain.

Thanks. May I assume that coins which are "pre-colonial" have "AME" or "America" somewhere on the coin?

No. You can learn a lot about colonial coins and see examples here - Colonial Coins

It is not a penny, pennies before the 1790's were small silver coins. Depending on the size, its either a halfpenny or a farthing.

Size is nearly identical to an U.S. 1847 large cent that I have.
