Right up front, I admit I am a newbie with respect to Morgans. This past Thanksgiving I inherited 20 or so from my Dad’s coin collection. All were circulated, 18 went into a new Dansco which I am slowly trying to fill with XF & AU coins. Today I had some cash leftover from CRH dumps, so I visited my local coin dealer who sets up a small shop in the back room at our local gun store on Tuesdays (where else but in Texas!). He had just bought a collection of Morgans from an individual, so I went through them and picked 8 of the nicest ones I needed. The local dealer wrote the grade for me and the circled number is the price I paid. He looked each one up on his Grey Sheet and discounted the bid price approximately 20 - 30%. I’m excited to have them and look forward to putting them in the album! I just wanted to share this with the forum in case anybody had any input that will help me with future Morgan purchases. Thanks!
Good for you!! You should have lots of fun with these, it's a great feeling popping them into the book.
You're doing just fine without our help. Those are all honest-to-good purchases at honest-to-good prices. Just keep doing it the way you're doing it.
They don't look cleaned. Good condition at good prices. The 82 not sure. Maybe cleaned. It seems flat.
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement everyone, it is much appreciated. I might scrape up a few more dollars and see what else he has!
I am doing to the same thing as you: I am concentrating on Morgans. I am not a dealer but an accumulator. Great pictures. My recent buys have been above your prices (as noted on the cases). I'd say you did very well. I have a few thousand in cash for a forthcoming buy (sold an old gun). I like your pics of a nicely preserved coins with a fair price.
