My LCS has a few dime holders for sale from back in the day banks gave you things....like free dime / quarters holders, calendars, banks, rulers, pens, coin wrappers,etc.. Now all you get is .75% interest, and a dirty look when you ask for a new check register.
Glad you're putting that to good use. Without taking any from my detector finds album, I didn't have any Merc dimes to stick in it. You'd better get some! As you can see from the cover, that thing wasn't designed fer no stinkin' clad Roosies! @H8_modern- was it you who sent me that? Shameful to say, I've forgotten who gave it to me. Whoever it was, thanks! It made a nice sort of "safety mailer" inside the envelope when I shipped Dwhiz a coin recently, so I regifted it.
Really cool... maby (when I say that I mean definitly not ever) you will get there with dimes... quarters much better to save though
You know what? When those were current, the passbook savings rate was like 4.0% or so. Try to get that now.
When I opened my first checking account from Michigan National Bank I got a cast iron truck bank. This pic isn't mine, though mine has black wheels and I still have it.
Saturday at the local coin shop had them in his exonumia maryland book from a savings bank Baltimore federal savings and loan bank
I have that one as well. Haven't seen it in a number of years, but is here somewhere. The good old days...
You know what else he had that really brought back memories the stamp book you pasted your savings bond stamps you purchased weekly in grade school. If I recall $18 in stamps got you a $25 war bond / savings bond matured in 7 years
These things are really fun. A member here sold it to me many years ago. Cool guy. I forgot who it was. I think I paid about the price of the silver.
I remember these from when I was just a little kid. The bank gave you a little pocket ledger along with it, they called a pass book. It let you keep track of your savings.
@lordmarcovan Thanks, that was a pleasant surprise. I better start looking for some Mercury dime to put in it. And that 22 Peace dollar is much nicer that I thought it would be, looks great in my collection.
