bromac4: As a Canadian who has been collecting for some time, I wonder if you have ever heard of Marles and Company. I think they were located in Calgary. Anyway, during the 1970s I'll bet I sent them better than 100 orders for Canadian coins. I was always pleased with their products and their service. Just wondered if the company still exists? Have you heard of it? Thanks for any information.
Can't say that I've heard of them. Maybe some of our Canadian friends can help out. I still need some late date half dollard and some Large cents for my collection. catman
The Bay on Richmond St. (biggest Bay in Toronto, and perhaps all of Canada?) has a coin counter. At least it did 2 years ago when I last visited. I still remember the site of raw Cdn. coins in 2x2's under the counter. I wonder if that section is still there?
I remember them well, they issued a mimeographed mailing list on blue paper, typewritten. I'd love to have one of those old mailing lists - I even recall the smell of the paper!
Im not old enough, but i have a coin buddy, who manned the counter at Lazarus in downtown Columbus years ago. They actually had stamps, coins in 2x2s, and redbooks for sale on the 3rd floor of the department store. Lazarus i dont think is in business any longer. They were bought out by Macys i believe. Wish they still had this practice, i hate shopping, but by god i would be the 1st one in the car if i could hang out, on the 3rd floor whilst the wife shops.
