Yes @Wheels it is an error, but it is very common to find numbers or letters that have been filled like this. You see, a metal post on the die is needed to form the center of the loop. Continued striking weakens this post and quite often it breaks away. When it does, coin metal flows into the void. Chris
Thanks at least I have $ upgraded my search I can't look thru pennies any more lol those coins are dirty.
Umm.... he was President during those years, not a Governor. That's kinda why he's on a "Presidential Dollar".
The presidential dollars are interesting. They don’t have many errors listed for them. I have a large cue on a Polk dollar I need to publish it keep on looking and send them in if they are of any worth!
There's 2 Cleveland coins. He was elected twice with Benj. Harrison in between. Cleveland a huge guy around 300 pounds was a sheriff in Buffalo, NY (Erie county anyway) and personally hanged a man. The Baby Ruth candy bar was named after his daughter. Baby Ruth Cleveland. Nothing to do with Babe Ruth.
Interesting... I just started collecting these. I have done some reading there are not many errors on them but I want to have my complete collection. I spent about $60 in rolls from which I was able to put together half of the presidential line. I have yet to find about half of the presidents. Got several Sacagawea in the roll too but none of the popular ones
It's hard to get the ones after Garfield, because they were much lower mintage and possibly NIFC. (I have 4 of the late ones.) Of the early ones I am missing 3. Fillmore Pierce and Grant.
I just bought $100 worth of those coins didn't find any errors but I got about 20 Susan B Anthony's out of the roles of the hundred dollars
Iam not too sure of the worth I don’t think is much at this time but I want to have the full set every time I find two of the same kind I just keep the one that’s in the best condition
