In my last thread of the same title, the coin turned to be a medieval one from Venice. That wasn't bad, but still I've always needed a silver Byzantine coin in my collection.
Apparently, it has Jesus on obverse and possibly a Byzantine Emperor on reverse. The coin weighs 4.76 g. Hope I'm right this time.

Charles, that's not an authentic Byzantine coin :(. I hope you can get your money back.

Sorry- I wasn't trying to be rude. Charles you need to stick with reputable dealers if something like this would fool you.

@7Calbrey Good luck with a silver Byz coin. I think they are less common than Byz bronze and offered for sale less than gold or billon. You might look for something like the one below that hammered in an auction for $100 in 2011. I like to look at coins like this in acsearch.info or cngcoins.com

BYZANTINE EMPIRE. Heraclius & Heraclius Constantine (613-641). Silver half-siliqua (0.69). Carthage. D N ERAC—ΛIO P P AV, draped and cuirassed bust facing in crown with pendilia / Crowned, draped facing busts of Heraclius Constantine and Martina, cross above. DO 233. BCV 871. Some areas of deposits and a few light scratches. Very fine
    Estimated Value: $ 150 / Hammer $100

(Note the final cost would have been about $150 including sales fee, shipping, etc.)

I can verify that they are indeed less common than copper or gold

BTW, if you are having issues loading all of those images, use the search criteria to find the coin you are looking for. Very handy and you can limit the search by AE, AV, and AR coins.
