I just got one today form the bank. series 2004 serial EK01765858* I have been getting lucky lately. Just wondering how much extra it might be worth only because $50 is alot to hold on to.

Sounds like you have a Dallas issued $50 star note.. In Gem condition they go for 120.00 to 135.00

Post a pic and let's see what ya got... Ihave 6 of them in numerical order

most newer notes, unless like RickieB pointed out are in Gem condition, go for face value. It might fetch a small premium to the right collector, but usually not much. But even in gem condition, i would be surprised to see a $50 2004 star sell for 2 or 3 times face value. that jsut seems like alot for such a new note.

Honestly from your description I would value this note at face value.

If you can't afford to keep it let it go - another will come along.

here are the pics. i probably will save it but still not sure. It's easier to save the $20 repeater note I got. Either way my bank has gotten me some intersting bills. It definately made me go from just thinking about coins to now checking my cash too.

yeah every month I have to go to the bank to take out cash for rent, bills, ect. Now iam too busy checking the serial numbers to concentrate on anything else.

Oh boy do you get hooked, I can't afford in bulk anything over the singles but I manage to go through about one thousand a week, surprisingly I only find about 2 * notes a week while looking for "serial obnormalities and other oddities" as Daggarjon said.

What a horrible aspect of "collecting". Looking at notes, putting away money but WORST of all being broke with all kinds of cash at hand.

    That's it - I'm quitting!

I have to take roughly $700 at one time amount for rent it gives a good opprotunity to go number hunting. SoI am guessing the consensus is my new find is nice to have but not a gold mine. Thats ok I will still keep it until I need to spend it.

Here is the note in Gem condition..the current pricing I have found on it ranges as I suggested.
I know it is difficult to conceive this not goes for 2 to 3x face but thats what is being asked.

One of my notes is a radar.

being asked, and being sold... wait to see if it sells for that amount. Everything will sell eventually, it all depends on who happens buy and is willing to spend it. What was it that P.T. Barnum said? :D

Yesh i started doing that whenever i got change back from a purchase. Then I realized it might look weird to the cashier that i'm checking my bills and coins over so carefully. So now i wait til i get to the car.

It's like christmas when i get a nice surprise like a star note, a wheat cent or pre-1950 nickel or a note from series 1995 or older.
