Tripled???

    DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling, as stated,
    Is common on Copper Plated Zinc Cents. It's an issue that is caused because of a worn Die. Nothing to do with Hub Doubling which create true Doubled Die.

    How could it create 3 images of 1 #?

    No problem, I can not easily distinguish 3 images from the photo, but if it is, it also can be caused by mechanical movement of the die as it contacts and then lifts from the planchet. Jim

    Not that this changes anything, but it's most visible on the upper loop of the 8.
