Last box of BWR Cents I went through was a Brinks box that was short 33 cents. Many rolls were 2 or 3 cents short. There were 2 loose coins in the bottom of the box. Terrible quality control.

Just finished half dollar box #5. It wasn't a skunk but it was as close to a skunk as I've come so far. Only two keepers, both NIFCs: an 02D and an 06D (the first for that date).

So far, in my half dollar searching, I've found zero Walkers, zero Franklins, and zero 64's. All I've found is 40%'ers, NIFCs, and impaired proofs. Of course I'm not complaining about those but I read all these other posts about folks finding whole rolls of silver and keep hoping that some day I'll have the same kind of luck!

Picked up the partially filled half dollar bag, it was up to $659. But, just looking through the plastic, I only saw one silver half. So, I’m not expecting to find much tomorrow when I go through it. But the teller also showed me 2 silver quarters (1945 & 1964-D) she set aside for me, sold them at face value which was very kind of her because she collects as well. I did pick up $120 MWR half dollars at another bank - all skunks. But another bank had $7 in loose halves - (1) 1968-D. And finally, another bank had 5 CWRs - (1) NIFC, and one Loomis MWR - 1 NIFC & (1) 1961-D Benjamin!

I stopped at 1 CU tonight to ask for halves. Despite the fact they were busy, the assistant branch manager offered to call the other branches in town and ask for halves and large dollar coins for me. Of course, I accepted her offer. Only 1 branch (out of 5), 20 miles away, had anything; $80 in halves. I told her I’m sorry, but it’s too far away for me. (Side note: I had a sniping teller I would buy silver coins at the branch 20 miles away, so I know they occasionally get good stuff).

She then said although she knew she couldn’t order large dollar coins, but she instead offered to order halves for me. She was being so kind, despite the fact I’ve searched literally a thousand local MWR halves and found only 2, 40% halves, I accepted her offer, and left my name and number with her.

About 5 minutes later as I was driving to another bank, she called and told me she would order $500 worth, and also offered to have the $80 transferred from the other branch to her branch for me. Of course, I accepted! She’s a winner in my book :)

Moral: Your relationship with your banks matters.

One more story from a bank tonight: I stopped to check in with a head teller who will order me Ikes. She reported she had tried to order Ikes last week, but another branch beat her to the 200 Ikes their local coin vault had. She called the other branch for me and they said all the branch employees there had bought the Ikes.

So, she kindly asked her tellers for halves and accumulated 3 rolls for me. All skunks, but I don’t mind given she literally has my number and is willing to try ordering Ikes from time to time. Oh, she also offered to order halves for me, but I declined.

Moral (again): Your relationship with your banks matters.

Thanks Berto, yes the tellers and branch managers can make or break this hobby. ;) If you have one that will order Ikes for you that is tremendous! :woot: I hope you get the "mother lode" of Ikes some day!

I collect more than coins. I collect the currency also. Many fine finds in the past. So, get to know your bank's people.

Tex, the most Ikes I’ve ever received from an order was 480. I will likely never receive a classic $1,000 bag because my city population is less than a million so the coin vaults (Fed courier businesses) are relatively small-time.

Also, the only two silver Ikes I’ve found in the wild did not come from orders, so I’ve a feeling too many others handle my ordered coins and remove any silver Ikes before I can receive them.

Oh well, I’ll still periodically order Ikes as long as my vault teller contact stays in her position.

In the meantime I am inundated in copper pennies.
Charitably somewhere between 35% and 55% of them are nice enough to make up rolls out of.
Some are going into high 6 rolls.
But it's a long process to go through them.

I get the cold shoulder almost every time I inquire about ordering Ike’s. I’m sure it’s possible. But, I still haven’t found a bank can actually get Ike’s. A couple banks have tried ordering Ike’s for me. But, the orders resulted in $1000 box of small Dollars both times.

Went through the bag of halves just now. Actually held $657 vs. the $659 machine count. It did have a Louisiana state quarter and a 1954 Mexican 20 Centavos to help with the difference, lol. Results:
    (2) 1965
    (1) 1966
    (3) 1967
    (2) 1969
    (3) NIFCs (2005-D, 2009-D, 2017-D)

I’ve done better with coin machine bags, but this was still a good result for me. Happy Hunting!

Bought a box for poker. Opened about 100 bucks worth. Never heard a silver coin hit the table all night. Won 60 bucks and ate great food. Maybe next week will be different
